Exclamation 90 yj, DASH & TAILLIGHTS dont work, but head lights do, please help, thankyou!!!

I have a 1990 Jeep YJ/ Wrangler

At night when i turn the headlights on, the DASH LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS DONT TURN

**
Fuses are fine,
wireing seems alright,
lights are not "dimmed"
headlights still work properly,
took the dash off and nothing seemed disconnected.
**

Ive looked through some forums and no one seems to have the same problem of both the dash lights and tail lights.

People have mentioned its the switch meckonism, would the whole little pannel need to be replaced? has anyone had experience with this?

"There is a very good possibility it is a bad headlamp/parking/dash light switch assembly. The older cherokees used a rheostat, basically a coiled wire in a ceramic disc that would vary the resistance to the dash lights in order to dim them. The coil can break, which will cause the dash lights to stop working. This sounds like your problem if you're sure the fuse and wiring to the dash lights are good. "

please post any ideas, thanks

thanks again

Just recently had this problem. No tail or dash. I found that it was a fuse in the fuse block under the dash, however, it was labled something other than I would have expected or looked for. Try pulling all fuses and make sure none are bad. Hope this helps.
