Friggin Hose!!!!
I CAN'T GET THIS DAMNED HOSE BACK ON!!! PLEASE HELP!!! This is the little bastard hose between the water inlet and outlet on a VG30ET. Any suggestions...comments...ANYTHING on how I could get the damned thing back on would rock...I need to go to work today and I can't without my car!!! I got it on the bottom opening, as you can see in the second pic, but it's not flexable enough for me to get it on the top opening. Anything I could take off to make this easier? Anything I could do to the hose to make it more flexable or bigger (diameter wise)? Of all the stuff I've successfully done to my car, it took a little 4" bastard piece of hose to stump me...I'm open to suggestions.
The yellow you see is the inside of the top opening. All this cuz of this tiny little hole...

Re: Friggin Hose!!!!
I know it looks easy, but that bitch just doesn't wanna get on there. The other side IS loose. It's not cranked down yet. It's just on there.

lltz: hoses? we dont need to steenkin hoses! Its probably not important seeing as it isn't in the Z31 service manual, so chop it off and cram some chewing gum down the hole. ![]() Disclaimer: MikeMan or his affiliates hereby release all responsibility regarding any engine or other mechanical device into which chewing gum has been inserted. -Mike |

Re: Friggin Hose!!!!
Pfft, you're all girls. Back in my day (last year) i used to do all sorts of crazy hacks to my car.
In Australia we had a show called 'Bush Mechanics' where it was a bunch of aboriginal guys who basically drove around central australia for various reasons. Because of the climate in central australia, and also because of the condition of the cars they were buying ($200 datsuns etc.), things would go wrong very frequently. These guys would just figure out innovative ways of fixing problems. Think of a non-competitive cross-country rally, in the desert, with only one car, on a very very tight budget. They once broke a cross member by driving over a very large rock. To fix this, they cut down a nearby tree and tied a thick branch under the engine as their new crossmember. They once got a punctured tyre and not having a spare, they filled the tyre with spinifex grass. Best quote of the entire season was when they were filling the tyre with spinifex grass, one of them said 'Hey dont use all the grass, we need to keep some for dinner' Now let this be a lesson to you all. Dodgy hacks are cheap, easy to perform, and you wont spend all day doing them. The only area they lack in is reliability. Now, on the other hand, race engines aren't very reliable. In the top classes of racing, most engines need a full rebuild after every race. So when you do a dodgy hack, justify it to yourself by imagining you've got a top notch race engine. Besides, when you sell it, who looks for chewing gum in the engine bay anyway. ![]() -Mike |

Re: Friggin Hose!!!!
LOL. You have a very interresting thought process when it comes to repairs. You see...I'm not going to sell my car(s) any time soon, so I like to shoot for the durability aspect as much as possible. I've decided to quit messing with that hose. I'm going to take the car to a little quicky-fix type place...you know...those places that do little stuff like A/C recharging, tire stuff, alignments, etc and let them change ALL the hoses...including the one I can't get back on. I don't think they've ever been changed, so it isn't a bad idea to do that anyway...they'll also put back the one I couldn't get back on...kinda killing 2 birds with one stone. I got my beater Celica back, so I'm not too hard up for a car now and I'll get my child back up and running when I get the cash...shouldn't be too long.
