545i Questions

Well, I got my 2004 545i 6-speed a few months ago and absolutely love the car! I've got about 4K miles on the car already (I drive it everywhere). I've seen all the complaints about the iDrive, but it took me about 15 minutes to learn how to navigate around....

My complaints at this point are minor and maybe there are answers to them at this point:

* MP3 Support on the CD changer -- the manual says that it's "not available", but goes into extensive detail about what codecs and KHz are used, etc. What's up with this? I'd love to load 6 MP3 CD's up with music and listen for weeks on end.

* Navigation and Satelite radio at the same time -- my dealer "claims" that you can't have the BMW Sirius Satelite radio and Navigation at the same time. Since I ordered my car with Navigation, am I stuck with not being able to have satelite radio?

* Cell Phone -- my sales person gave me no real details about how I can use the built-in phone portion of the car...Does anyone have details about how to enable this and get activated service in the US. I live in the Austin, TX area.

Re: 545i Questions

BMW and most German manufacturers have always been 'slow' on audio technologies [ MP3 support ]

You'd probably need a seperate antenna for the Sirius system, again, poor integration.

GO BACK TO YOUR DEALER ! ! on the Cell Phone issue. You paid for this level of service in the sales dept., they should be able to find you someone in the Dealership trained on it's use.........this kind of ignorance or incompetance, at BMW dealers still drives me nuts [ well not anymore, I've found help ]
