Unhappy Sputtering when hot

Saw this problem posted on another forum but no answers. Got a 97 Aspire. Even cold it hesitates from deceleration to acceleration but it's minor. When hot though, it acts like it's not getting enough fuel during accleration, though I don't think that's the problem. It misfires, but if you nurse it up to speed slowly, it will do OK. The check engine light comes on intermittently too. Checked the OBDII codes and got a P0340 and P0304. 340 is supposedly a camshaft position sensor issue, but I think that was a misread, as the car doesn't have one and it hasn't returned since erasing it. 304 though, is a cylinder 4 misfire, and that code has returned. On the other forum they didn't mention the codes, but all the same symptoms and suspicions of some sort of distributor or throttle position sensor issue. Anyone been down this road before?
