First track day with my bike...and stuff.
well, i bought the bike about 3 months ago ...then i wrecked my car about 2 months and a week ago. it was a major wreck i am acctually still 'recovering' (i broke my left leg in 5 places, very close togeater. nothing else that was major). anyway, its a 1992 CBR 600 it has an exhaust acctually i think it is a slip-on. other than that its stock.
![]() ok, i wasn't going to race, (i can walk now, just not very well) i was just going to go and watch some of my freinds race and i decided to take the bike sence i was well enough to drive it now and i hadn't done so in over 2 months. well i went up there early (bord to death) and they were still taking peopl who wanted to race. after about 20 mins my freinds convinced me to just run it down the track a few times, not really race it... well, i agreed to that . ok, now to put this into perspective first i shouldn't even be on the stupid thing , second if i wreck i WILL brake something again . ...i was thinking even then that this was prolly the dumbest thing i had ever done. ok, so first run i pull a 14.32 ...i was comfortable that time (very comfortable) so the next run i pulled a 13.8 for some reason i was so very nervus that time i dont think i really jumped on it tell i was nearly done with 2nd (i was afraid i would lose it...). well i ran a few more practice runs about the same i was a little bit afraid to push it as i didn't want something to go wrong. at that point i was thinking how stupid i was to have even entered this. when the acctual comp came around i was so nervus for some reason. i dont know why i have done this track many times before in my civic for kicks (well, that was a full 3.5 seconds slower than what i was doing now) so anyway there were about 20 competetors i made it through the first 9 eliminations then got beat b/c i brokeout to soon. after the comp they let people to free runs down the track, but you had to have a 'running partner' well a freind of mine couldn't find anyone to run with him so i said i would, he drives a mid 13 second civic so i figured it was be a good race anyway. at some point from when i pulled up to the line and the light went green i decided i was going to do one good run (got comforable with the thing again lol) so the light goes green and i hit it... i dont think i picked up the wheels, but i know it was close. bam, second i let the frunt end come up under the accelleration this time and rode it through 3rd gear i finished that time with a 12.5 at 127. i was perfectly calm while on the track... then when i was doing the drive back to the staging area i was shakeing so bad i could hardly drive ...the though cought up to me as to how much i could have gotten myself hurt. ![]() well after it was done i had a fun time and i needed to get out anyway i have been couped up in my house for to long now. ready to get on with my life. but on Another side note i have something to thank all the in the motorcycle form for... thanks to you guys i could afford a car i was going to buy a newer bike, but i bought an older one b/c everyone said the older ones were a good bit less powerful and better for someone who doesn't have much (ok, any) experance on one. acctually everyone said 250cc... but i just couldn't... so i bought a $1,200 CBR and could afford a car!! woot. i had 4k saved, although i ended up only buying a $1000 car so i have 1.8k left for stuff that comes up. i think i will use the bike as a primary and use car as secondary (its a 92 mazda protege, nothing good). sence i know everyone will ask, i hydroplaned INTO another car headon. no, i wasn't driving wreckless, i was acctually doing less than the speed limit (50 in a 55) it had stoped raining, i just didn't see the water accross the road. of course the car is TOTALED. so is the car i hit. thank god for airbags. and seatbelts. i didn't wear mine much (sept when it was raining) but i sure as all hell do now.sorry this is so long! didn't really want that, but oh well, HAHA i wasted some of your life!! ...ok, i'm done, you can post

Re: First track day with my bike...and stuff.
I've never taken my bike to a drag track... infact, this bike has never seen a road track for that matter! I still want to some day. Either way, tracks are much safer environments than the streets even in the best conditions. Glad to see you had a good time!

Re: First track day with my bike...and stuff.
i agree, tracks are much safer than street... i cant say i wouldn't race on the street though; at least some hehe. the 3rd day i had it some punk in a civic (stock with a bolt on muff i think) kept reving up on me but i wouldn't race... i did that for about 3-4 lights. i finnally just decided i would drive it as hard as i was comfortable with (not very hard hehe) and see how it did... i totally owned him and i dont think i ever had it past half way till around 4th. i was afraid it would come up on me.

Re: First track day with my bike...and stuff.
--to Z_Fanatic--
no no, not about the civic. i was worried about the bike! about pulling the frunt up. i was deffently not ready for that to happen. i'm still not, but at least now i know what i can do before that happens. at that point i didn't know how easy/hard it would come up on me. ok, last night i went to bike night for kicks and giggles to see the big crusers and custom bikes (i love some of those). well turns out there were more rockets there than anything else (a lot more) so after it was over of course everyone was walking around looking and stuff. now, my bike had been lowsided before i bought it so it has some scratchs and stuff on the lower fairing on the left side. well a few of the guys kept asking me what kind of stunts i could do on it haha. they all thought it was my 2nd bike for stunting. lol, i told them i didn't do that ...was kinda new to it. to keep this short basicly 2 of them were going the same way i was so they were showing me stuff you could do on the bike. none of us had our brain buckets on at the time b/c we were talking while we were driving. after a while one of them left and it was just me and the guy with the 900RR driving down I-10 (we had our helmets on now, sence we were going more than 35 hehe) they had shown me stuff about doing 2nd gear wheeles though i didn't try it. but he didn't tell me that 900 could just pick up without trying!! he got my attention and i guess downshifted and punched it, next thing i know the stupid thing is at maybie 10 o clock. he rode it a ways but when he went to put it down he lost it... droped the bike and slid forever i swear. that about scared the shit out of me, i acctually did an endo without meaning to as a reaction ok, not really, im not sure if the wheel came up or not, but i hit the brakes really hard. thank GOD there were no cars around. so basicly i had to call 911 wait forever for them, then call his parents... that was a bad phone call... i hope i never have to make another one of those. then i ended up following them to the hosbitial b/c his parents asked me to. he is not doing so well. he has 2 broken ribs, his leg is broken in 9 places and he is missing some skin on his arm. good thing he had his helmet on... he wasn't going to wear it but i had told him he should. (in LA you dont have to) so i guess i saved his life? im not saying stunting is dumb ...ok, i dont know what i am saying. i am just telling a story, a true story. he hit the ground going about 90... he was slowly accelerating while he was wheeleing and i was following along... the cops wanted to say he was going over 120. heh, but i told him i would contest that he was only going 90. they didn't know he was landing a wheele so he didn't get wreckless endangerment. just carless opperation. anyway guys i am going on vacation in 2 hours. so ill be back in a week or so hehe. hopefully i will be feeling 120% better and able to ride as i want again. then its rematch for that track . i found out my bike is capable of 11.8 ...so i am aiming for low low low 12s... like 12.1-2!! anyway, later guys.

i'm surprsed at how people think big bikes wheelie without trying!!!!!!!!
i can give my 954 everything she's got without dropping the clutch just after starting and she won't lift unless i want her to. bikes don't get to 10 o'clock unless you try or f@ck up and drop the clutch ps i'm 6'4 and 210 pounds on a bike weighing 370 pounds dry with130hp at the wheel also, tangie and anyone else, you NEED to get your ass on the track. you not only have a great day but you'll learn to respect your bike's capabilities more. you'll realise how hard it is to slow from 155 mph to take the first corner at 110mph almost lying down. on my local track (eastern creek international) the best bit is coming onto the straight in second at 75mph and hitting the gas. as you grab third the track drops away slightly and you can flick the clutch and bring the nose up while still going 110mph and accelerating. YEE F@CKING HA forget the drags. the corners are the real challenge.

i forgot to add that i am scared of civics and large suvs. i know this isn't the forum so don't respond about the car specifically. my nieghbour, who happens to be a cop, runs a 1985 civic hatch capable of low 12's and she's non-turbo. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds with a 0.02 reaction time. not bad for a 'shitbox'
as for suv's, one f@cker backed over my '96 GSX-R750. thought she hit a wheelie and wanted to push it out of her way. bitch

damn, that guy is lucky to be alive. and going over 90 without gears.... talk about the odds.
btw Blayne, ever dropped your bike or broken anything? people say tracks are generally safer than streets. while I kinda agree, but I also heard stories of riders breaking their collar bones, ribs, etc, and almost going into coma due to sliding in the track with full gear. anyway to reduce these risks at the track?

You're wasting the bike only riding in a straight line. Might as well get a Harley. You'd get better traction anyway.

Re: Re: First track day with my bike...and stuff.
Blayne, I've ridden road track (http://www.beaverun.com) but not on my Seca II. I went 2 Octobers ago on my GS500E. I LOVED the 180 (turns 10 and 11 IIRC) b/c the 500 was soooooooooo easy to lean... I wanted to pass in the corners, but I wasn't allowed b/c I was in the "baby" group (not full gear). I can't WAIT to do it again. Just gotta wait til I'm 25 so I can afford to have a bike for track and a bike for street.
![]() I really don't have much desire to do q/m runs b/c I know I will top-out so my times will suck.

two parts
1st to Z, no mate never really dropped. but history goes like this quickly: 1st bike:FZR250RR 1991 model just washed. turned right and backend spun up and dropped on RHS no pain just exhaust scrape 2nd bike GSXR750T 1996 model I T-boned a car and bent triple clamps, dented tank with elbow but both wife and I ok. punched the crap outta the other guy with carbon covered knuckles on my gloves. wasn't my fault he ran a red light new bike: nothing yet!!! and i know it will happen one day. on the track i've had a few scares and 1 run off. i had the choice of cutting in on a ducati 996 but chose to go straight off into the gravel than risk both of us going down 2nd to Tangie. awesome fun huh. it really makes you appreciate the speed and how dumb speeding by shitloads in traffic is. passing is a thrill at high speed on corners because it can all turn to shit if you don't set yourself up right beforehand but when you pull it of its the best feeling.

secondly Blayne, what you did is my long time ambition. though I intend to beat up some aholes with kevlar knuckles. btw, I am surprised the guy stayed around instead of speeding off.so your wife doesn't like you watching girl on girl action?
