Can't Smell Paint?

Maybe it's just me, but I can't smell the paints I use. I normally use Model Master Acrylics and Tamiya Acrylics, and I can't smell them, but family members can? My mother says she can smell the paints and they're real strong, even when I keep them outside to "fume out" and I don't bring them into the house for 4-5 hours?

I CAN smell laquer paints and automotive laquers (those suckers are STRONG!) but not the weaker stuff? Maybe I've built up an immunity over time, or just damaged my nose from over-exposure? (Been modeling for 8 years). I do all spraying outside in the middle of the yard with plenty of ventilation. I'd say I spray paint on average 10-20 times a year, only during the summer since there's snow on the ground November-April.

Anyone else have this problem or am I just

Re: Can't Smell Paint?

Why is everyone so paranoid lately?

Its not that you cant smell them, its that you are used to them. I cant smell body fillers, automotive lacquers, toluene, etc.

Smells good...at least when I used to be able to smell it.

We should start a paint-smelling thread kind of like a wine-tasting club...

Tamiya X-18 has a fruity bouquet with a hint of raisins and black oak. XF-7 is an amusing little paint - a bit pretentious but with a nice after-smell of red strawberries.
