Today I volunteered for...
Well as some of you know I am active duty USAF stationed in Alaska.
Today I volunteered for a 4 month TDY to the desert, the desert could be any number of places (kuwait, iraq, saudi, turkey) I will know this week sometime if I will be going. I just thought I would share.

Wow, that's a long TDY. When I was in the USAF, we went for one week TDYs to Vietnam, Thailand, etc. Watch your butt as if you're off base, you're at the mercy of local laws, which are very backwards in 3rd world countries. My brother went to Turkey on a TDY. He had some interesting stories about how they hand out instant punishment on the streets. I had stories too, but decided not to tell him about my exploits.
