Clutch Adjustment came undone??

Strange thing just happened to me 20 mins ago. I came to a red light and stoped, everything fine. I put the clutch in and it pretty much flew right in without any resistence which i thought was funny and then it wouldnt go into gear. So I figured that my clutch probly went. Had it towed home and just for the hell of it I started to twist the little clutch adjuster on the trans and I started it up and it went right into gear and drove and everything. I'm assuming that my adjuster came loose or something? I had to really twist though to get it to grab alright. Or is this a sign of my clutch cable on it's way out. The trans is a 91 crx si 5 spd, it's got a 160,000 on it with a fresh clutch. I already have a rebuilt trans coming *thank god* but I still would like to get to the bottom of this. I'm ording a new clutch cable to just to be safe and possibly a clutch. I'll see how it is when I pop the trans off.

Are the plastic threads starting to get stripped on the adjustment part of the clutch cable? That's the only thing that I can think of that would cause your adjustment to slip.

What if that is happening? 'cause it seems when I adjust mine, it will feel ok for about a week, then start getting really hard to push in, and the friction point changes too. Say..closer to the floor.

yeah mine broke a while ago and I used a hose clamp to keep it from happening again.

Sorry, the question was for JimCRX, I forgot to use a quote.

But my thought was maybe if you have a performance clutch the pedal pressure is sometimes higher and maybe it's too much for the stock cable and it will stretch or stress it after a while.
