Ect Power Button???

I have a 02 toyota tacoma prerunner xtra cab and i recently got a trailer hitch put on it to haul my waverunner around and i was told that the ect power button would help with towing it. is this true??? and about the overdrive button- do i need to have that on or off when pulling the waverunner???

For towing, unless you are driving dead level road, take the OD off and use the ECT on the power setting.
