1997 Honda Accord Stero Problem

Hi..

My car battery went down and after recharing car stero is not working. Intial it showed some error codes, we keep on pressing all the buttons, now it showing err1-3 code and nothing is happening. Even FM is not working. Any Idea about this particular problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks,

Ramesh

Re: 1997 Honda Accord Stero Problem

From what I could gather, you've caused the factory stereo to go into 'anti theft' mode, meaning when you powered the stereo back up, you incorrectly entered the unlock code three times, now you need to either find the correct code for the stereo (you may have it with all the car's documentation on a small card, it might be on a sticker in the glovebox or it might be on the fusebox panel), or you need to get the serial number off the back of the stereo, call your local honda dealership and get the stereo code from them, you have to leave the stereo alone for 1 hour, it will allow you 3 more chances to unlock it, enter the correct code, your dealer should tell you how to enter it. Good luck.

I had the same problem with mine. Do every thing that AF Enthusiast said but if you tried it more then 3 times then you have to disconnect the battery and reconnect it and try again but the honda dealership will tell you that. Roxanne

Thank you for both for the advice. I have the code now with me and I kept the strero on for one hour, but after that also it is not asking for the code.

If I want go for the second option i.e disconnecting the batter and reconnecting. Can u give some idea how to do that?

Thanks in advance,

Ramesh

you should be able to just enter in the code. after 3 unsuccessful tries you must wait one hour (the car doesn't have to be on).... but to do it faster, just disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery. i think you'll need a 10mm wrench/socket...
