a/c question

what all has to be changed to convert an ac system to the new refrigerant stuff, (132 i think) or whatever its called, the "ozone safe" crap. also, could i take the stuff from say a 95gt and put in an 89lx? thx!!!

it is a good idea to change the accumualator. It's ind of like the filter for your AC system. If you use ESTER oil, all you have to do is buy the retrofit fittings. but do you have acess to a recovery system and a vacume pump? When you open up an AC system, you should pull a 45 min vacume on the system. after you recover the r-12 that may be remaining in your system.

A guy I know here in Virginia drove down to Atlanta one weekend because he found a guy down there that did it, I think he said he paid like $700 and it took about 8 hours. He paid extra because all the parts that could be were chrome plated. usual price was 500 or so. He's quite a mechanic too, but guess he had no desire to try and do it himself.
