Mods for Chevy Cavalier Z24

Newbie questions and searching. I have just recently purchased a 1999 chevy cavalier z24. The thing is it has a 2000 2.4L DOHC and a 2000 5 spd manual tranny. I'm not positive if I should get parts for a 99 or the 00. I believe the 2000. But I wasn't sure if exhuast and various other parts would work. Just looking for any mods that are good for gains and price is but isn't a matter. Cause I would like to get an ideal of what I will need to save up to do these mods. Want to put some local people to shame with this car. Any post will be greatly appriciated

Re: Mods for Chevy Cavalier Z24

Z24 2.4L the best mod you can get is the Supercharger from GM. Comes with all the fuel rails, belts, SC, can be installed very easily, its reliable. Cost is 2100 for a manual, will put you at 170WHP and 190 crankHP. Will also make the car a mid 14 second car. Which should shut up about 80% of the 4 bangers on the road. In my opinion nothing else is worth it unless you have this.

Thanks for the info. But I want to stretch the outreach to more than just 4 bangers. I don't know if I will be able to accomplish this reach or not but want to put some mustangs to shame or attempt to.

Re: Mods for Chevy Cavalier Z24

Which is better. A Super Charger or a Turbo? I know either way I need to do work to the motor to ensure it can handle the extra power. Already have that in the planning stage. Just wondering what is better or if it is more of a personal preferrence.

Re: Mods for Chevy Cavalier Z24

well a turbo charger will produce more HP for a cheaper price. But it can also be a pain in the ass to maintane. A turbo charger is run off the exhaust fumes from the engine, so it takes time to spool up before it has an effect. A supercharger can produce a really nice amount of HP. Their is little maintanace to you have to do to it. It is run off the serptine belt. Superchargers do cost more for HP than turbos do.
