"SEE ID" not valid! Must sign your credit card??

I ran into a problem I thought was pretty funny yesterday. Actually, I was pi$$ed, so to avoid getting a temper / causing a scene I laughed it off

I went into a local post office to send out a package. I gave the guy my Discover Platinum card and driver's license for the purchase. He turned the c.c over and saw the "SEE ID" in big bold black marker. He handed it right back with my id and said I can not take this. I was like "why"? He then pulled out this sheet from under the counter that said the cards must be signed. I was so pi$$ed that I glanced at it and waved my hand for him to put it away after 2-3 seconds. He said that is not his rule, but from the credit card companies. I said, "my id is right there with the c.c.!!!!"

I told the guy any person can learn a signature and I've already had a credit card stolen and used. It's no fun gettting it cleared from your credit so I prefer the "SEE ID" route now.

Anyhow, I ended up using my debit card.

It has the same "SEE ID" on the back with NO signature!!

He then said to me, "Now I don't care if the debit is signed or not because you have a PIN #. But, if you want to give you PIN # to other people that is your problem."

I was about to punch this a$$hole, but just laughed and walked off. I am thinking about calling the post office back about this problem. What a crock of $h!t that was.

Has anyone ever had this problem?

He made sure to point out on the back of my c.c. where it says, "not vaild unless signed".

I hate that crap too. I wouldn't have punched him or nothing, but I would have made a huge scene, showing what an idiot he was being. I have done that to people before.

I'm going to call Discover and then the post office about this $h!t.

I would talk to the guy's supervisor (civilly, of course) and make him aware of the guy's attitude. As for the SEE ID thing, so far I have had no problems. They should have had a flier posted somewhere near the counter indicating this.

I called Discover and explained the situation to the csr. The guy totally agreed and said Discover would NEVER send out such a memo!

So, I called the post office and the lady was a total b!tch. She stated that one major credit card company sent that memo and they (the post office) decided to make that the rulw for all c.c. purchases.

I'm going to call Discover back and get a new card sent out. On the left side will be my autograph and on the right in black marker will be SEE ID!

I once had this problem as well. I was a Target and the girl said that I would have to sign the card before she would swipe it. So I signed the card and then signed the receipt. She then looked at them both and said "well they match." She then gave me back my card and ID. Gahh, what a retard.

I was thinking I should of signed it right there (after I left)!!
