Re: neon lights

i just got a blue one but mine isnt running for some reason, i got a switch with three terminals ground, acc and power, i split the neon wire in two and used the stripe one for acc and the other one for ground, this is the part i think i messed up on, i used speaker wire if thats ok and used the copper side for power and ran it to my fuse box to the switch, then for the other half, i used it for grounding but it still does not work, someone please tell me whats wrong..

Re: neon lights

yep...vinneys right..thats basicly what u want to do...i got a switch and i wired 1 wire to the lights, 1 wire to ground, and the other wire i ran to my fuse box and wired it to my cigarette lighter fuse. But if thats what u plan on doing you might want to get smaller wiring then 16 gauge. My fuses are small and i barely got it to fit because the wiring was too big for the fuse but i made some adjustments and its all good now

Re: neon lights

to splice the other neon into the existing one i would just use a three-way but connecter on the power wire from the new on to the power wire if the old one... then just ground the other side to whatever... i would also get rid of that cigarette lighter thing and plug it into the battery..

Re: neon lights

yeah but if you use the fuse it doesnt run your battery down...well i guess it depends how often you have them on...From sundown to sun up i have my neons on so i would run the battery down so i have it to the fuse instead.

Re: neon lights

just go to pep boys, auto zone, or any other car place and get the 2 slot adapter (not sure on the name) but then you can just plug that into the cig lighter and then youll have 2 slots. i believe it will def short if you try to twist them together.

Re: neon lights

I went to walmart and looked at the neon underdash lights , do not splice wires or youll pop fuses left right and center they are specifically set for one light.

Wow neons suck that much juice out of the battery? That doesnt seem right cus the alternator shouldnt have a problem with such a small power source bein added to it. Do what I did , test your charging system with all your electrical stuff on and see how much drain there is on the battery and see if the alternator compinsates and keeps it at a decent level of charge.
