Float for fuel tank impossible to find?

I had my fuel pump replaced, and the mechanic shop broke the float so now my fuel gauge does not work at all. They have been unable to find a replacement part to replace this. I have looked on the internet as well and have been unable to find a float or a sending unit( no idea if sending unit comes with a float or not). Am I just out of luck? This sucks that they broke it and cannot fix it. I hate stopping to fill my tank for 7 gallons just because I do not want to get stranded anywhere : /

Found a website

http://www.teamautoparts.com/cgi-bin...1994&x=34&y=20

It is $280, which they should be paying. They were probably trying to find just the float because they didn't want to shell out the money for a whole new unit. Give them this address and tell em to fix it!

When you get to the website, type in "fuel sending unit" and hit lookup.

Have to replace complete unit inside tank. If you found a new one for $280, that's inexpensive. Ones I found wanted upwards of $400. Found used one on eBay for $70. It came with a fuel pump but I used the new one I had just put in which is when I blew out my old sending unit.
