hi i dont realli kno a whole lot about carz but thats why i ask quiestions...this quiestion mite seem stupid 2 u smart car guys so leave me alone if it is but....

i see ads on tv for all these chips like superchips and hypertech chips and i was just wondering wich one was the best for a 92 mustang and i was wondering if u can use more then 1 chip for a car

you can only use 1 chip at a time, they are definately worth the money, i droped from 15.68 average run to a 15.43 in my escort with just the chip

Chips are a totaly waste of money on a stock car. It will do nothing but advance your timing and adjust your fuel. Both of which you can do manualy. I would not waste my money on a chip unless there are serious performance mods done to the car, otherwise the stock computer can handle it.

a chip plugs into tyour PCM so its either 1 OR teh other you would run teh 200hp and get a 200hp gain over stock, if you remove it you go back to stock power, if you put on the 100hp gain you will be 100hp over stock

if you go from the 200hp chip TO the 100hp ship you lose 100hp

if you wanna keep a warrenty then a chip is a nice way to get gaind, you just remove it when you take it to the dealer.

like if your no really smart about working on cars and you want some more power in your 03-4 cobra a chip will give you +70HP +127ft/lb for $200, then do headers, exaust and pully change you have sweet power and only basic mods

Sorry, but if you think a chip will give you a gain of 100 to 200 hp, your on crack!

No chip is going to give you 100 extra horsepower. Especially on a stock motor. There are programmers like the Hypertech that adjust shift points, line pressure, raise the rev limiter etc. but that's is. They will not give you much more horsepower if any.

He has a 92, a chip will do nothing but waste him money at this stage.

i know what he is talking about, he has seen one of those turbo diesiel chips they try and sell on Speed network. Sorry guy, the only reason they can get 100 HP from a chip is because of the 1)turbo they have, and 2) their large displacement. All those chips do is crank up the boost and do the other tricks mentioned above. Since a mustang has no form of boost on it, the only thing a chip can do is adjust fuel and timing. There is not much if any power to be had from the chip.

i figured he said 100 and 200 just fro round numbered examples, and i just used teh cobra chip as a demo that a chip CAN give yo nice gains.

a 92 5.0 is +18HP +25ft/lb
2.3 is +9HP +16ft/lb

so for those years its better to wait, unless you only plan on basic mods

Where are you getting these #'s from?????

they tend to be correct and at teh wheels at least eh zx2 chip the gains it claims is at the wheels and was dyno proven (stock car went from 107whp to 118whp)
