Tune- Up

This is a really noob question but how do u preform a tune-up. What do you gain and can you tell? Besides cleaner parts/well performing.

You don't gain any horsepower from tune-ups

But you can free up power lost to used/worn out parts.

Basic tuneup replaces:
------------
spark plugs
plug wires
distributor cap and rotor
engine oil & oil filter
air filter
fuel filter
oxygen sensor
check and top off coolant/power steering fluid/brake fluid/tranny/differential fluid
check and adjust ignition timing
check brake pads and rotors for wear, replace if needed
lube chassis (see shop manual for the locations to grease)

check and replace if needed:
engine belts
coolant hoses (both radiator and heater)
