Question Jackets for Florida?

I'm a new member of the forum, so Hello. I browsed the forum quite a bit before buying my first bike (1990 CBR 600). The suggestions here helped out quite a bit. Now I have upgraded to a 2002 CBR F4i, and I'm looking for a good jacket for the Florida weather. I'm interested in the Alpinestars T-Venom Air Flo, but there aren't any local shops to go look at them. I'm interested in Textile jackets since Florida can get so hot. Does anyone have this jacket? Does anyone have any suggestions on nice jackets (prefer to find one that is sporty, not just a normal jacket).

Thanks,

Damien

Re: Jackets for Florida?

I absolutely LOVE my Fieldsheer mesh jacket!!! I had the mesh tex from First Gear, but it didn't fit me very well. I bought the Fieldsheer, and the huge increase in padding is just AMAZING. I feel soooooo much safer in this mesh than my other one.

Almost forgot: WELCOME!

She's not in FL, , I am. And I'd still suggest getting a leather, as cages and squids here aren't so "cautious." So Cal and So Fla are the worst place for riders. Many riders do bear with leather. But at least you're getting a jacket, unlike most.

It gets "warm" in PA. On mid-80 to 90* days, it's nice to have mesh on. No matter what, mesh isn't going to feel like you're just in your T-shirt, but it does feel really good when you're moving. Like I said, my old mesh jacket had marginal padding at best, but this one from Fieldsheer makes even the pads in my leather jacket look and feel like newspaper. The back pad was hard to get used to, but I know I'll be glad I have it when sh!t hits the fan.

I know it sounds like I"m soliciting here, but seriously, I wore my other mesh for 2.5 seasons and I never felt good about wearing it, and I NEVER wore it on "hard" rides. This jacket... you just have to feel the padding to believe it.

Re: Jackets for Florida?

Shit I live in socal and wear full leathers all the time. Hardly anyone does down here and yes everyday I get "ARENT YOU HOT"? But I dont care if im hot, I dont care for hamburger skin. But I guess textile is better than just a shirt. Dont count on it for sliding though.

Re: Jackets for Florida?

um, i live in New Orleans. got you ALL beat with heat (once the humiditiy is counted in)!! haha, lol. i wear a textile vented jacket unless it is "cold" then i have a normal leather jacket. but it doesn't get cold here... like 60 coldest most of the time (mid-winter). anyway, back to the point, at the very least get a vented jacket if its leather, you will sweat your ass off in a normal one if its zipped up. im going to look at the jacket saturn was talking about, it sounds cool. and i dont feel that safe in my textile anyway... its more of a bug shield lol (bugs hurt at 70-75mph on the interstate!!).
