Building 500+ rwhp BAD ASS 350Z
I'm new here, dont be too harsh to this idea..
I just got hired out of College, great job working loads of overtime. Lots of money that I am going to spend on my base 350Z (arriving within the month, FINALLY). My goal is to have a 500+ rear-wheel-HP car that hauls ass. After reading damn near all the threads here I have an idea that will shoot me up there, mabye even closer to 600 rwhp. I plan on getting the following mods: (oh yea, the warrenty is going straight out the window here) ~AEBS 4.3 liter Stroker Kit ~custom made twin turbo kit - 16 PSI with all the fixins (ECU, injectors, fuel pump, wastegates, oil pan, etc...) ~STILLEN exhaust ~racing cams (mabye) ~unorthodox pulleys ~lighter flywheel/bigger clutch Hope I didnt forget anything, heh Other things that must go with this:~BREMBO 6-piston big brake kit ~19" rims w/ Toyo's ~Tien coilovers ~a short throw shifter Mabye 6K in exterior kits, but I wanna have the power to back up the look. Basically I want the first truly Kick-Ass 350 that will beat damn near anything hands down in the 1/4 mile and on circuit tracks, and still using pump gas. I live in Western Washington, so the reason for this post is I would like to know if there are any shops in the Seattle/Tacoma area that can help me with installing/working the complete details out. Also, any opionions on this set up is greatly appreciated and any ideas on how to reach my goal would be nice. THANX! |

ya, save all that money and get a porsche 911. or wait a few more years and get a v35/r35 skyline. just an idea. because to get that much rwhp out of the 350Z, you might as well spend on a better stock car. M3 also comes to mind. Importing Skylines are hassle and left hand side driving conversion from right is a pain. And NSX, though an eye-candy, but not much raw stock HP. Also corvette Z06 is a good bargain, though sacrificing some handling prowess.
If I were you, I'd get a cheap 94+ 300ZX TT and boost it up to 660 rwhp. I believe it will save you a lot of money than 350Z.

Re: Building 500+ rwhp BAD ASS 350Z
SGP in Houston just finished a 350Z with 561rwhp on pump gas. They didn't use the AEBS stroker kit/sleeves, so there's definitely more power to be found.

Jeez, thats a lot of cash.
You sure you wanna spend all that money on this car? What if you end up not liking it? What happens if something gets messed up? Do you have a dependable shop to do all this work? Or are you doing it yourself? You only named AEBS and Stillen by name. Does this mean you dont have any of the other mods picked out? Quote:
And for the Stillen exhaust, people say that its even heavier than the stock exhaust, maybe theres a lighter one... you can choose.

Re: Building 500+ rwhp BAD ASS 350Z
top secret has a 690hp 350z wit 20's and no 4.3 stroker kit, check the june 04 for issue of super street, then go to page 138 and then you wont have to get a 4.3,GReddy makes ever thing you need to achieve 500hp or more

I LOVE how the 350 looks in comparison to the 300ZX. I am thinking about getting a mid 90's 300ZX and spending the cash on that car, but i just like the body style of the 350.
If I stroke the engine first then turbo it can i get up to the 690 HP easier then the car in the super street mag? Thanx for the tip about the magazine, I will definetly look that up. And as long as i dont inform insurance about my mods I can keep a lower insurance rate then a corvette or a porsche. ArthurKing: I only named the two brands because they were brands I was certain of going with. AEB is the only place I've found that made a stroker kit. And I've always had a soft spot for Stillen. Everything else was kind of up in the air as to what exactly I was going to get myself into. Now, I'm lookin to buy a 26K car and spending 30K on engine components to get myself to where I want to be. I would like to know the opinions of the people on here as to what else could I do? Other options I am thinking about are a mid 90's Z, an earl 90 240SX (because i think the hatchbacks have some kick ass body kits ), or a Ford Mustang Cobra. Hehe, I Hate Ford. This would be my first car that i totally modded. Right now I own a 1994 Mazda 626 V6. I lowered the car, intake, clutch/flywheel, and installed an STS all myself. I would definetly have a proffesional shop do some of the main work on my newer car, but I am capable of suspension/Brakes and minor welding of exhaust pipes. Finally, if i go the 300ZX route, should I get a twin turbo or a NA engine and convert to a TT? I want to do a convert so I can learn about how turbos work and how they are tuned and how they are integerated into the engine. Basically this project is something that I can use to Learn as much as I can, mabye make some proffesional 7 sec Supra's years l8er ![]() I unfortunetly like to live by the motto "Go Big or Go Home" |

that really depends, you can learn about Turbos when you do a TT upgrade. plus the Z32 twin turbo is a 2 seater with a lighter chasis and body. but if you want 2+2, go with the N/A and then do a twin turbo engine swap and go from there. helk, you can even get a convertible as well if you want.
though looks are subjective, personally I like Z32 better than Z33 (350Z) and Supras. it has lower center of gravity and better aerodynamics; i.e. like your Lambo cars. it is my belief that if you strip some weight of the Z32 to match the weight of Z33, and tweak it up to same horsepower as Z33, the Z32 will smoke it. Right now, I think Z33 and Z32TT are equal in power and abilities.

Ah yes, the famous german wide body kit for the Z32. That is my favorite pic of the 300ZX, it just looks amazing..
Damnit! For the past couple of years I've been waiting to get my hands on a 350 and upgrade the shizat out of it. But now it seems that getting a 300ZX would be best... A lot more options for the 300, and cooler body kits really.. What about the new RX-8? I test drove one and enjoyed it, I hear I can throw on another rotor and a turbo to get near 500HP. But i dont want to deal with rotors... What to do... What to do... |

Go check out RX-7/RX-8 guys, they definitely will recommend. But if you're not experienced with rotaries, dont bother. There's higher maintainence for the engine alone, a lot of know hows. Not to mention Z32TT easily has more power than RX-8. And the older RX-7s is a gas guzzler like muscle car and high-end sports car. It's not just that rotary engines haven't been technologically refined yet, great concept, but not as efficient as it ought to be due to lack of research. Besides Mazda, no one else bothers with it. Plus there's a 2000 miles break in period where your not suppose to go above 4000 rpm, 1K oil change, etc, etc. It's a good deal if you're into rotary engines. Personally, I dont dig the RX-8 4-door coupe design, reminds me too much of the new Miata. No top-end sports car should resemble its regular siblings.

Thanx for all the input, I really appreciate it. After talking on some other forums and some friends who build cars for a living, I've decided to get a mid 90's 300ZX and build it up. It would be better for me to "practice" on a less expensive car rather then jumping right in into a Z33. Welp, now i have other questions, heh...
But i can look into them b4 I ask here, I'm sure theres got to be a forum about which is better to start with, a 2+2 NA, a TT, or just a regular 2 seater NA. Heres a good question: Which version (2-seater or 2+2) handles better? And which companies have made the best turbos for the Z32? I still love Stillens parts,

Excellent choice! And we'd be glad to welcome you to the Z Family!
Anyway if you want your questions to be answered, please join us at the Past Z Cars section and post your questions, they'd be far more qualified to answer them: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...lay.php?f=1141 That modified Z32 is a Strosek body kit btw. http://www.chimera.co.nz/300zx/index.html
