Exhaust heat sheilds

Hey I just got my exhaust replaced (from cat back) and after I got the car back when I first start up the car, and when I run about 1,100 rpm theres this noise. It wasn't to bad at first but it got worse and it was really annoying so I got underneath it and I found out its the heat sheild (not around the car just around the pipe) I'm not sure why its there and not the rest of the pipe but o well theres 4 tack welds holding it on but only 1 is attached so you think I should take it off, like its not going to let heat to something its not suposed to (its not by the tank its in the midle of the car) and if so how you think i shuld take it off i dont have a dremel tool i was thinking i could just rip it off if i could. thx

Actually, I have the same problem (if yours makes a clicking sound). I posted the same question and people were saying that it's just the metal (midpiping/cat heat shield) expanding from being heated. Nothing to be concerned about. I just installed a brand new exhaust system on my car. But, I think I'm going to have the bolts and flanges welded to make sure there is no leakage and then maybe the clicking noise will stop. I wouldnt take the heat shield completely off though because it can cause a fire.

That's a very common problem. Couple choices 1 Rip it off, 2. Install a large hose clamp to hold it in place, 3. replace them.
