99 Envoy/Jimmy Odometer Flickering?
I have a 99 and the electronic Odometer flickers on and off while driving. Anyone had this problem before?

Re: 99 Envoy/Jimmy Odometer Flickering?
Sounds like an "iffy" connection and or dry joint in the circuit. Either way, it's a strip out job to check electrical connectors for conduction AND connection. My experience of automotive connectors in the dash, tells me it is more likely to be a connector problem than dry joint/electronic.
The dash volume gets very warm. Plastic connectors go soft and move with road vibration, causing disconnection. Don't know if you can repair the circuit board or not. If you can get to it and it has solder joints on it, they should be closely inspected (strong magnifying glass) for cracks. However, be careful handling the circuit board, it's likely to have ICs on it, so you should handle it using anti-static measures. Resoldering the joints may help. Any electrolytic capacitors conected to the 0 volt line should be tested/replaced. Enjoy ! Teaman3 |
