93 Lumina not starting

I am having trouble when the temperature is slightly colder, and moist, my car will not start at all. It will continue to turn over, but that is it. If I give a little gas, sometimes it will start. Any ideas?!? Thanks.

How old are your spark plug wires?

I'm having a similiar problem. I have a 1990 3.1 liter v6 lumina. It's having intermittent problems starting. It wouldn't start for one day and then the next day it started no problem. I can't figure out what's going on. I just had new spark plugs put in less than a year ago.

Re: 93 Lumina not starting

Same problem today. It was perfectly fine last night but didn't start this morning. My spark plug wires are new. I don't know how to check the coil packs without taking them off (it's a pain in the neck. Whoever designed the ignition was plain stupid!) I know that in order to start, the car needs three things: gas, air, and spark. Well, I have gas pressure at the fuel rail and I can hear the humming noise coming from the fuel pump. Air is OK. Now, the spark. I don't know how to check it since I don't have a spare spark plug. But, let's say there's no spark, OK? What else could be? In my opinion, there might be a few things at fault:
- ICM (how can I test it without removing it?)
- CP sensor or the conector to the ICM
- 5V refference from the ECM absent (faulty ECM or broken wires)
- 12V from the battery (broken wires)

Any other ideas?

Re: 93 Lumina not starting

This is a bit off the wall, but i once found a bad plug wire by having someone crank over the car while i watched inside the engine in the garage with lights off so it was dark. I could see the spark jumping from the plug wire to the engine.
