interior lights

hey,

Can anyone tell me how to fix up additional lightings (those interior lights that activated when opening the door) in the car?
I wanna fix some neon lights under the driver and passenger kick panel, and have them automatically lit up when the door opens?
Should the wires be routed to the fuse block? Which fuse it should go to? Any wires I can splices into?
Cheers!

Re: interior lights

You could probably splice into the stock wiring for the overhead light. That way they would turn on when you opened the doors. Im not sure how much power neons use though and if the wires could safely handle the extra load???

Re: interior lights

you have a couple of options. you can do as above, splice into the negative side of the dome light and run your wires with inline fuses. you could run your own switch and install it in the door jams. what you cant do is wire it into the fuse block, because the lights will stay on constantly...

Re: interior lights

well, if you tap into the interior lights directly, you might overload it, what you could do to make them work with inteirior lights, is wire in a relay, that is activated by the interior light circuits, but has a seperate circuit powered by positive battery voltage to power the lights.

Re: interior lights

thats the long version of what i was saying. ya see i come from a town where "splice" really means "calculate the required relay, splice in to the original circuit, run in-line fuses from a closed loop power source, and then mount the system in a desired location". im not big on details...
