dash bezel removal in 87 laredo

im trying to replace the lights behind my temp. control panel, but im having trouble removing the dash bezel... i unscrewed it, and unclipped it
but when trying to competely remove it, it wont seem to fit past the steering column. is there some sort of trick or special tool i need?? any help would be appreciated.

You dont need any tools to get it off just ease it past there, it will go. If you thought getting it off was rough though it really sucks putting it back on.

Try rotating the top out first then pull the entire unit free.
