Hmmmmmm
I put in a fuel pump assembly on my 96 Tahoe and know I am getting a humming sound coming from my gas tank. Thats after I went back and checked my connections on top of the gas tank. Thanks.

Re: Hmmmmmm
That humming sound is the fuel pump. You should always here that humming sound. It is the same for just about all of the Chevy trucks. Some are louder than others, but if you don't here the humming, then your fuel pump is done or will be shortly.

A LOT of people are duped into thinking a noise is always bad, and the dealership prey on that, your pump may get louder as you gas tank empties thats because the resonation of the cavity in the tank, since it is mounted directly to the tank you get the noise, if the noise changes to a different sound, becomes labored then maybe have someone take a look at it, but dont just replace it because your worried it will fail, the new pump has just as much chance failing in the first couple days of it being installed :/ but thats my experience at least
