Re: Which Renault, can make success in North America?

Avantimes dead- so it can't.

Vel Satis is too ugly for conservitave American tastes

The Clio and Twingo are too small

I think that if it were to be any it'd be the Megane sedan and the Laguna...

I think the Laguana would do ok over here, but I don't know if the market wants another mid sized wagon.

I'd love to see the Clio Cup here. It'd set the sporty compact market on its ear.

The Megane RS would be nice, too. Some folks say that the next Nissan Sentra('06 model) will be based on the Megane.

I know for a fact that the forth-coming Almera/Pulsar will be, but since the Sentra in the US is a whole different car and chassis (B for Sentra, N for Pulsar) I'm doubtful.

Then again Nissan is currently clamping down on having too many platforms...

We have many of those here in Mexico. The clio v6 is nice but damn expensive.

Nice post btw.

Gee, I don't see Dauphine on the list.

I can barely remember when Renault outsold VW in the US.

Meh, the exterior trims have probably all fallen off every Dauphine ever made by now, like James May said- the French see all those as bits put on the car for Export markets.

I'd consider the Clio V6 and the Laguna series as long as the prices weren't too steep. Most of the other ones a pretty ugly though.

I wouldn't think so- you basically have the big three American companies- that sell about 6 different cars each (Due to the huge amount of badge engineering), the Japanese makers (Like the rest of the world), the up-market Euro-brands (and not many at that) and Hyundai/Kia at the buget end.

Not too big of a choice at all- they even have a bigger choice in New Zealand
