Angry problems going in gear

Ok fellow rex owners i need some help here guys, i have a 88 crx si, me and a buddy changed a CV joint on the right side and after all was said and done my buddy started to roll the car back to pop the clucth but when he did there was a loud pop and the car never went in gear again. i thought it was the linkage cable but i tighted it up and still notthing so not really sure what it is, could it be the tranny or clucth or what? some one please help i havent driven my rex in months now cause its not my daily driver but shit i miss it.

also there is another problem my rex is starting to throw out black smoke (even before the CV thing) can some one shine some light on how much that may take to fix. thanks guys.

Re: problems going in gear

No idea on cost, but for the black smoke, you might be running too rich. You might want to check your 02 sensors, maybe your spark plugs, see if all cylinders are fully burning.

02 sensor is fine for sure cause it was just changed not but three months ago but when i took out the spark plugs they were covered in oil so i changed the seals for the oil wells, but it still smokes.

When you are saying cv joints, do you mean you guys replace the whole axle? If so, you guys probably didnt put the axle in the tranny all the way, sometimes axles have probs getting in there all the way. You guys prolly messed somthing up. Re-check your axle, there should be no large gap between the axle and the tranny.
