95 neon se 2.4 motor swap
Hello, i have jus recently replaced the shadow and my prelude w/ a 1995 neon se 2 door 5 speed and someone told me that swapping in a 2.4l motor out of a stratus or some other cars is possible. They also told me that a turbo kit meant for the 2.0 neon will bolt right up. I know nothing at all about the neon and am wondering if that swap is accually possible. My neon is currently a SOHC right now. Also would a 4g63 eclipse motor fit in the neon??? Any help at all would be great.

Re: 95 neon se 2.4 motor swap
For the 1000 time -
The Eclipse turbo motor is not a straight-forward swap. Unless you have a reason to use this engine unknown to anybody else, its not worth trying to shoe-horn one into a Neon. The ony engine Neon share with any DSM is 2nd gen N/A Eclipse/Talon which use the same 2.0L DOHC engine found in the Neon. The intake is on the back of the car instead of the front, but the head, cams and block are all the same. A 2.4L DOHC does swap into the car, look here - http://www.neons.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12557 Just follow the directions here. the mounts can be sourced. Any turbo system for the DOHC engine is available for the 2.4L and yes it does bolt directly to the engine as the bolt pattern on the exhaust is the same. You can also use a turbo/manifold combo from the SRT-4 Neon, which is a direct bolt-on also and can be found cheaply on the SRT Forums. You can also use the oil squirters, turbo rods and pistons from the SRT-4. They all directly bolt into any 2.4L DOHC engine. That would be a very powerful and affordable engine combo using a 2.4L engine and SRT-4 parts. Good Luck |

Re: 95 neon se 2.4 motor swap
i did some thinking, for once, and figured if you can use the tranny from the neon on the 2.4l swap the axels will fit properly. will they fit if I got a 3.55 or 3.94 tranny? and would i have to get a throttle cable out of a dohc or are they located in the same position? all the other information sunk in about spark timing and changing the fuel inj. one down and switching the outside coil wires. other than that info is there any trick I should know about before investing my dough in to this project? i hear some people have problems installing the adapter mounts on this project and some people have done it with ease. JLM (JLMmotorsports.com) has motor mount kits for the 2.4l swap but run 400 bills! will I need to get the fuel adapter kit they offer or will my current one work? sorry for soooo many Q's but I want to make sure that I know everything before I attempt this task. I see that quan2000 has done this a few times so I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback. thanks alot!!!!
