Question airbags can I do it????

I have a 96 civic and a 96 prelude. They were both wrecked cars a I am rebulding them. The civic is now my daily car (featured here http://members.cardomain.com/cas4067 ) I took the old airbags out of this car and put the new ones in but they are not hooked up.. I just got the airbags in for the prelude yesterday and I took the old ones out and am in the proces of putting the new ones in I know how to do all that..
What I need to know is what are the steps I need to take to hook them up or should I just pay the money and take them to a dealership to have them hooked up. I just don't want them to blow ( I don't want to have the windshields replaced again also the airbags are expensive) Hope you guys can help me..

They will just plug in.......No need for the dealer. They will not blow if you try to hook them up.

make sure there are no shorts in the wiring and the battery isnt connected when you plug them in.

Won't the SRS unit throw out an error signal and illuminate the warning light? I'm assuming that if the cars were wrecked then the SRS unit will be showing an error anyway. Unless of course the SRS unit is also damaged. How wrecked were thes cars anyhow? I think the whole thing hinges upon how reliable the SRS unit is. If you're on a tight budget I wouldn't even bother with the SRS system at all. Mine threw a warning at me due to a flat battery, so rather than have it reset or risk it blowing up, I just disconnected the airbags and warning light. I've been driving without airbags for nearly 20 years, I think I can survive without them now.... The choice is yours however..

If this is not done right you can even be killed. I imagine sitting in my seat and bending over to try to hook up the airbag or something and all the sudden it deploys with your head right next to it, maybe a cracked neck. uhh, I didnt mean to discourage, just saying to be very careful.
