99 Tahoe- Brand new battery, all electrical works, but STILL won't start!
O.K.
I accidentally left an interior light on and drained the old battery beyond the point of recovery. No biggie. I bought a new battery, and now I have all of the electrical back except that the engine won't even turn over; the starter doesn't even click! Everything was fine before the battery was drained, and the new install went smoothly. Is there anything that I need to reset? Is this a common problem? Any input would be helpful. Thanks! |

Sounds like your Starter happened to bite the dirt @ the same time. Take off your starter and take it to Auto Zone, they can test it for free. You silanoid (SP) may be also the problem but beleive that the 2 are now-a-days combined as one unit.

I took the old starter into Kragen. They said it was dead. I put a new one in, and I am still having the same problem! I even replaced a fuse that looked kind of bad. Any more suggestions??

Re: 99 Tahoe- Brand new battery, all electrical works, but STILL won't start!
Take it out again and have Kragen check it. You could have gotten a bad one. May need to check your postive battery lead. May have enough juice to run your interior but not enough to start your vehicle. These leads can look fine on the outside but be corroded on the inside and not work. All this may be a coincidence and happened @ the same time. Good luck.

You may want to check out your starter relay and try starting it in neutral instead of park. The power has a ways to go to get to the starter solenoid from the key. Usually a yellow wire from the ignition harness to the park/neutral switch on tranny then I think it is purple to the start relay and purple from relay to starter. Check out some fuses too
