Started B16 swap tonight

Well, this lady I work w/, her sone blew his D16A6 about a month ago. It was running DPFI in his DX. She bought him a B16 swap for graduation and a friend and I are installing it. I checked and made sure she had everything, mounts etc... Turns out she didnt have mounts, and some of the ones that should be on the engine are missing. We pulled the A6 anyway (took 2hrs 20 minutes start to finsh). Tomorrow is wiring, and maybe junkyard running for an engine mount, plus we have to get the mounts. I planned on finishing tomorrow by 5 but it probably wont be. Since I live in Iowa there is a 1% chance the place's will have mounts in stock.

She did get the correct axles and ECU, so thats good.

IMO the car is fugly, but its not mine, I'm just wrenching on it. I'll post some completed swap pics for sure.

Quick description:
-Mugen flared body kit (half installed)
-Mugen rear wing (unpainted)
-half of car rattle canned purple other half primer
-twin fart cans, one functional, off stock piping

Re: Started B16 swap tonight

Oh, im getting the A6 (bent valves) and $$ out of this. I might use the $$ to buy a hatch w/ a ZC swap for the ZC. If anyone wants a hatch shell or a hatch w/ a rebuilt A6 and si trans in the midwest, hit me up. I will be much more likely to get the ZC if I can find someone to take the shell since I dont have storage space for it.

Re: Started B16 swap tonight

eh, not getting started till 4pm today kinda sucked. We actually started at 9am, that involved driving 150miles around town to find a rear mount and a set of mounts. We did the timing belt, water pump, and 90% of the wiring, it will be dropped in tomorrow. Hopefuly w/o problems. Right now I need some sleep.

Re: Started B16 swap tonight

we didnt find a rear mount so i put it in anyway, turns out you cant put the rear mount in w/ the engine in. So I pulled it and dropped it back in. wiring is 99% complete, just need to hook everything up and it is ready to run.

Oh, and the axles and shift linkage are not correct. She said she bought a shift linkage just for the CRX, it is about 2" too long, so I have to modify that. Also the axles are way off, it came w/ 3. 2 ABS axles that are not the right lengths, and one non-ABS which is not even for a B-series. Those wont be in until wednesday, so the test drive will have to wait.

Alrighty, the code was a TPS (as I guessed), need to calibrate the TPS since we replaced it, the 21 was for the VTEC solonoid, probably related to the gushing oil. I ordered the parts (bolt & crush washer, $4) so I hope that clears it up. I need to change the oil, fill the tranny, and finish the shift linkage and exhaust, so hopefully this thing will be out of my garage this weekend.
