Because life doesn't revolve around it!
 You have to remember it is not all about top speed, and that I think for looks the two cars are a dead tie. Both their performances are so fast that any owner could still say their car is bloody fast! Wouldn't you get bored of the Mclaren after worshipping it for a while anyway?

 so technically I own a smart Ford. Just lucky it was designed by a Brit really! Same with Aston Martin bieng fords as well!

Like I have said earlier in other threads, judging the S7 based on its ties to Ford is like criticizing the 16/4 for its ties to VW. WHO CARES? It a well built car (except for the gearbox with that 2-3 gear trickiness)
