powerglide trans

im looking for some info on the powerglide trans swap. i cooked another trans today

Why do you want a 'glide? Unless your car weighs less than 2500lbs or is making a heap of power it wont be th best choice. A built C4 or even AOD will work alot better. Then again, for about the same price you could get a Tremec.

What are you doing to your trans to toast it? My AOD has help up to my abuse, and a heavily modded motor for some time now. Then again my AOD has had a stout rebuild.

C-4 in a C-5 housing should work for you as long as the internals are made to hold the power your giving it, and as long as the trans is properly assembled. The C-5 housing is heavier and will take more power without splitting.

I've seen Mustangs with Powerglide transmissions, but I don't see the need for it. I also vote for the C4 I knew a guy that had I think it was a 92 Mustang. It had 300+ on juice and more than 400 on motor. He ran a C4 with a transbrake. That thing really jumped off the line.

eh i guess ill keep the c4 now i jsut gotta find one around here, im debating tearing down the c4 and rebuilding tho. i jsut want my car to drive now. i miss it
