Re: supra engine in 92 yota??

I hear that you can put a engine form a mk2 in the 4WD trucks but i'm not sure how it wouuld fit in a mini. It may make it easier (no front diff) or make it harder (possible smaller working space). I want to put a 1jz TT in my lowered '91 PU. I hear the main problem is if you were going to use your current tranny. I would recommend (if possible) to use a supra tranny from the same style of car as your new engine. If you have a progress report or pictures that would be great.

I found a web page where it shows how to convert a 4x4. It would be a close fit and you may need to modify the engine compartment a little. Also if you can get a front clip from the same car, it'll make it easier so you don't have to go find needed parts.

Re: supra engine in 92 yota??

You can do it. It is a super tight fit. Dont waste your time using the 4cyl tranny unless its a 5 speed manual turbo tranny, and those are hard to find. I have one and it took me 5 months to find one.

You can find 7m-gte motors all over the place out of Mk3 supras. Pick one of those up. There is 4 4x4 trucks with 7m-gte in em. All of them are not running intercoolers beause of the tight fit. If you are going to do it, and you cannot fabricate, you are going to be spending a lot of money to make it work.

You will need new motor mounts, tranny mounts, new headers, drive shaft to fit the splines into the supra tranny and it will have to be cut and balanced. Might have to cut the front wheel wells abit. Just for anyone who cant fabricate. It would be way over your head.

Oh yeah, if you cant fabricate, get your master card ready!

I was going to do it, but I got a R1 and going to buy another bike soon.
