Unhappy LHS 94 Thermostat on H

About a month ago, I changed my Thermostat after the gauge went to H. I figured it was sticking and it was about due to be changed anyway. Recently on two different occasions, the thermostat gauge has gone to H and the car has begun to overheat. My question is what else besides the thermostat sticking can be causing this? The last time this happened, I let the car cool down and when I checked it out the next morning, it was running fine.

Re: LHS 94 Thermostat on H

I just replaced waterpump in my 3.5 what a job , if you are low on fluid be sure to open the vent on the thermostat housing to bleed all the air out of the block you will know this is done when you see a steady stream of water from the bleed valve as you feel the resevoir, start the car let it warm to operating temperature fill to full hot with steady stream of water out the bleeder, tighten bleed screw and you are done, you have to be careful about air blocks, also check your fans be sure they are working correctly you have a low temp for the ac and a high temp for the motor, turn off your ac and be sure the fan is cycling at about 200 degrees, also never trust new thermostats always always put them in water and heat them to the boiling point 212 degrees to make sure they are opening and closing, I have had a couple og thermostats that did not work at all or opened at too high of a temperature.

My 94 3.5 overheats and I also changed the thermostat. after I did that I took it for a spin and I carefully monitored the temp. needle and it only went up when I was fully stopped so I took it to the freeway and nothing it stayed in normal went home and let it run turn on AC and looked inside hood and non of the fans are working car got hot fast so I had to turn it off. But do you guys know If theres a way to see if it is a sensor or The fan motors

Re: LHS 94 Thermostat on H

The thing wath i do for that problems (over heat) i take off the relay of the fan of low speed and the fans are working fine and don`t have that problem any more but the new problem is what the fans are working while the engine is working so the car don`t have overheat
