Honda S2000 VS Nissan 350Z, Which one is better? And which one is easy to mod?

I'd like to know, thanks

Depends on what you prefer, supposedly the S2K would have an avantage on tighter autocrosses because of its size, but the 350 isnt that much bigger and (IMO) comes with a MUCH better motor. It's all up to you, but there's no doubt that the 350 can make much more power then the S2K, the weight difference is probably in the 3-400 range, not a whole lot to worry about.

Besides that they are both Japanese, 2-seaters and RWD. They are very different cars.

The 350Z weighs 3200lbs. and the S2000 2810lbs.

The Z has 274lb-ft of torque and the S2000 has 153lb-ft.

The Z is more of a "muscle car" powerhouse that needs to be driven as such. Thing muscle car with good quality and a far better chassis.

The S2000 light and nimble, but that peaky engine makes it a difficult car to drive in everyday street driving.

Here's a link to some videos that show not only the S2000 and 350Z and include the RX-8, G35, Intergra (RSX), Miata.

BTW- the pre-production RX-8 had a defective engine part, so the RX-8 performance is not valid. It seems like all the pre-production engines had this issue causing a major power loss, like 40bhp. I hope this isn't a sign of Mazda's quality control.

I don't know which is easier to mod (either body or engine), but the S2000 is a roadster and the 350Z is a sports car. Not really apples to apples here. If I were plunking down my $$ I'd go with the 350Z and once they get the convertable turbo model to the market - I might just do that.

yeah, you have two entirely different approaches to horsepower here. high revs versues displacement. pick your weapon of choice. and seeing that the S2000 engine is already tuned out of its gore, it'll be more difficult to get much more power out of it with comparable mods done to the 350z. you see my point?

i've driven both to some extent, and i think the S2000 is the funner car to drive between the two. but yeah, the 350z certainly felt like the faster car. i like the 350z interior better, it's more useful and roomier. i like the honda's seats better. i would also choose the honda 6 speed gearbox over the nissan's. that thing is slick as all hell.

i think the honda's design will age better than the nissan, but for the moment i like the look of the 350z.

in the end, i would choose the 350z.

S2k is pretty tuned out...and when you spend money on forced induction and you only get 100hp more and only get very marginally faster...

You get pissed...

350Z man...lotta potential...

What makes the 350z motor much better than the S2000 just because it has more horsepower? (obviously because of displacement only)

You only get a 100hp out of a supercharger on stock trim which is not bad. Just like they might have a turbo for the Z that only produces 120 horses more. You can of course get more power outta of the 2.0Liter if you spend the money.

The F20C has little potential left in it without tearing the motor apart, besides that unless it's kept in a light car it's 153 ft lb will be easily overcome, it requires very short gears and is hard to keep in it's powerband. Besides that, bigger is better, the potential for power form the aftermarket of the 350Z's motor is greater, it is my opinion either way, think what you want I'm not condemning anything.

Little potential because it was highly tuned from factory. 120HP per liter, something i have yet to see happen for nissan or any other for NA motors. You are comparing a 2.0 with a 3.5 Liter. doesnt mean the 3.5 is better in all aspects.

Bigger is not always better, learn that. The car is not hard keep in the powerband, you just have to learn how to drive or drive it.

the potential is great for power, of course the displacement difference makes a big difference when talking about mods. There is really no tricks involved to make power when you have the displacement. Nissan should try to stuff a 2.0L under the Z making 286HP and see if they will really sell it for under 30,000. What do you think?

They are both great cars but are really different cars. And of course if you want to make more power you have to tear the motor apart, but this applies to any motor any make any mfger.
