Question 1967 Chevelle 396 SS Original Colors

Hello everyone:

I'm new here and looking forward to finding out lots of information on my 1967 Chevelle 396 SS. I am wondering if anyone knows what the original manufacturer color option choices available were. My car is a deep magenta - it's been described as "Barney Purple" - and I do not believe it is the original color, although I like it very much because it's a chick color.

Thanks for any information you all can provide.

umm go look on the cowel tag. it will say a two diget letter combination. (yy, or dd, or something similar). on the right side a little below hallf way down it will say paint on the very right side, then just to the left of it will be the two letters. those are the ones you need. post them up or look for a cowl tag decoder online. if post them and no one else has done so i will find the color for you when i get back later today.

Maybe the paint isn't original.

she said she was looking foward to finding out information on her 67. so im asuking when she's asking about color she wants to know what color it was originaly. and thats what the tag will tell you. she also said that she does not believe the color it is now to be the original color. so yes you are right but she's not asking about the color it is now.

also if you were just looking for a list of factory colors like to chose one from to paint it original and not spacificaly what color your car was im sure i could find a list of the 67 chevelle colors, my dads was butternut yello... ewwww. oh and welcome to AF.
