Angry 88 CIVIC Stumbles when accelerating

Hi guys I am having some problems with my 88 civic and I was wondering what could be causing the problem, whenever I am on the highway and I get around 60-65 the car starts to stumble and hesitate, I noticed that it is not as bad with a full tank of gas. The lower the gas the worse the stumble. I am guessing it may be my fuel pump or distributor. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Could also be your fuel pressure regulator, and might want to go ahead and check your fuel filter.

I am thinking about replacing the fuel pump, but i have heard that on the 88-92 civics you have to drop the fuel tank. I have never replaced a fuel pump before. Should I do it myself or is it too complicated?

Dont have to drop the tank, just take out the back seat. The top part of it pops out when you take out the little plastic clips on the hinge and the bottom have a bolt in the back and maby some in the front, but I think its just the one in the back. It has a metal shroud on it that screws of and you can take the pump out from inside. Or that was the case with mine, but for some reason mine is a little differnt than others and I have heard of some people having to drop the tank, but that is also really easy, even easyer if it is empty.

I just talked to a friend of mine that said it could be the clutch? Would a bad clutch cause the car to hesitate like it is doing

with the information you described its unlikely that its the clutch. It could cause it to stumble but the gas and stuff wouldnt effect it. I would lean tward fuel issues.
