Re: K&n Fipk

By spray off your engine do you mean like water and hose or do yo mean N2O??? and if you mean water then you souldnt spray you engine anyway if its hot second the intake should be fine but you have to let it dry I would take it off just to make sure you dont have to leave five min later and you cant drive cause its wet but the filter is made to get wet

Regardless of what you paid, if you're afraid of getting it wet, just wrap the filter in a plastic bag before you spray.

I agree with vnotaro, a simple plastic bag, like the type you get at a convenience store would work fine for covering the filter. I too have this kit, and probably paid more than most of you, of course I got it when they first came out for our trucks. Mines a 99 sierra. So to me, you got a good price. Good luck.

Wet filter...

You should be fine spraying off your engine. Don't spray the filter directly. The oils that are on the filter will repel any of the mist that might get on it. I spray my engine off with every wash. Hot or cold, it doesn't matter. I have a 99 5.3 with 139000 miles and no problems.

Re: K&n Fipk

I don't think I'd spray it off hot..that can cause stuff to crack and junk..I think....?

Re: K&n Fipk

When you guys are talking about getting the K&N's for $160-180 are you talking about the complete cold air intake? The lowest prices I've been able to find are around 240 at this website http://www.autopartsauthority.com/ap...ize~parts.html

does anyone know where you can get them cheaper?

blue,

You're right, the cheapest I have found the complete kit was for around 240. I actually want to get the 77 series FIPK, the only difference is that it comes with a stainless inlet tube instead of plastic...but that one runs around 270.....so if somebody can get them for around 180 bucks, I would be interested.....It would be really nice if AF.com would put together a group buy like they always do with the exhaust for imports.

Nitro-

Is there any advantage of getting the stainless steel tube as oposed to the plastic one besides it looking better?

Re: K&n Fipk

I have a local account at Advanced Auto And with my discount I got my FIPK 2 for $210.00 plus tax. Everywhere else I looked they were around $240.00. Performance with the Stainless vs. the Plastic tube would be the same, You will gain a different sound with the stainless over the plastic and it looks alot better. Anyone who is paying less than $200 for a kit please post the links so others can take advantage of the savings.
