Dodge Magnum R/T

How about a forum for the new Dodge Magnum R/T? I know it's a station wagon, but with 340 hp. Mines already on order. Hope for delivery before end of May here in No CA.

Re: Dodge Magnum R/T

340hp but it probably weighs 2000kgs = bad power to weight/poor handleing! Look at the porsche Cayene, too heavy!

Re: Dodge Magnum R/T

The Magnum weighs in at 4142, so 12.2 lb per hp. My PT Cruiser GT runs 14.4 lb per hp. The Magnum is big, but I need a dog hauler, and a tow vehicle for my RX-7, which runs 7.0 lb per hp.

If the Magnum runs anything like the 300C, then it'll run 0-60 in 5.3 and the quarter in 13.9, the exact same performance as the SRT-4. Car and Driver even says that it handles good, too.

Re: Dodge Magnum R/T

R&T gave a mfg 0-60 time of 6.3, but thought it would be quicker. If the 300C does it in 5.3, I'd assume the Magnum is heavier, so a tick or two slower. But that's plenty quick for a tank.

The thing's not bad looking, either. It's a refreshing break from GM's, uh, recent grotesque artwork.

Re: Dodge Magnum R/T

The magnum is gorgeous....I prefer the 300C but only because it's lighter and has a bit of heritage to it.... Gms stying is actually getting much better...the velite and new corvette are works of art, the XLR, CTS, STS are great too Pontiac is working on its kappa platform solstice....plenty of good looking stuff coming out of the GM stable.... I'm very GM loyal but these two new cars are beautiful...it's just sad more GM guys don't like them...

Re: Dodge Magnum R/T

Umm, just to clarify Dodge is not GM.

The Magnum is the best car to come out of Detroit/Germany in over 30 years. Finally a RWD performance car for people with friends (and dogs).

Sorry, I thought that was obvious. I should have clarified. I was contrasting GM's recent concepts (which should not be allowed to pass the conceptual point, some are so ugly) with the awesome new Chryslers.

Re: Dodge Magnum R/T

Get a supercharger, that would be hella fast. The only wagon I would buy.
