cylinder location/94 taurus 3.8
Today I mixed up my plug wires on my 94 3.8 taurus somehow, so i referred to my Haynes manual to get them on right. But something is wrong or I'm messing up somehow. The manual shows a diagram like this:
* 6 1 2 3 1 5 2 4 3 4 5 6 * (Distributor) (Cylinders) Front of Vehicle The diagram for the distributor actually has a counterclockwise arrow starting at the #1 spot instead of numbers. The astericks are the captive screws. The diagram shows them canted to the right, but my distributor is canted to the left. I think im confused on the spots. Ive hooked them up like this and the car doesnt run right. If anyone has an idea what im doing wrong, or maybe has a running taurus they could look at and compare, I would much appreciate it. |

Bah. the diagram didnt show up right. the diagram in my book shows the #1 spot on the distributor at about the 10 o'clock position, with a counterclockwise arrow for the rotation. Then for the cylinders, it has a box with 1,2, and 3 on the back of the block, starting on the passenger side. Then 4,5, and 6 on the front, also starting on the passenger side. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: cylinder location/94 taurus 3.8
I got it to work. As above, the book shows the #1 spot at 10o'clock on the dist. cap. But I decided to try it going by the "1" stamped on the cap itself, which is not at the 10 o'clock, but actually the 2o'clock spot. And it worked perfectly. So, allow me to say BOOO to the Haynes manual. And if your thinking I put the cap on backwards, I didn't, I checked it. It wont go on backwards.
