P1450 Code 98 Windstar
Service Engine Soon light came on the other day. Everything is running fine right now. I went to Autozone and the pulled a P1450 code. The scan tool they used said it was a Auxiliary Emission Control.
The Ford site says it is a Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum. Any thought's on what I might try here? I have a service appt next Wednesday with Ford so I have a few days to see if I can save a few bucks here. The only thing I have done recently was I replaced the existing AM/FM radio with a after market AM/FM/CD player. The light came on the next day. Could I have pinched a hose behind the area where the radio goes? Thats the only thing I can think that I may have done. THanks |

Here's the list of possible causes for a 2000, hopefully some of these will steer you in the right direction for your 98 (looks like the gas cap or EVAP lines would be a good easy place to start looking):
-Blockages or kinks in EVAP canister tube or EVAP canister purge outlet tube (between fuel tank, EVAP canister purge valve and EVAP canister) -Fuel filler cap stuck closed -Contaminated fuel vapor elbow on EVAP canister -Restricted EVAP canister -CV solenoid stuck open -Plugged CV solenoid filter -EVAP canister purge valve stuck open -VREF circuit open -Damaged FTP sensor |

Re: P1450 Code 98 Windstar
Thanks for the reply. I'm still looking for an answer if the tube runs through the area where the radio is. If it does, I suppose I could have kinked in when I installed the radio.
How do you know if the Fuel filler cap is stuck closed?? |

Re: P1450 Code 98 Windstar
I replaced the gas cap yesterday. The tank was almost empty and when I opened the cap I got alot of air hissing. When I mentioned this to the auto parts guy, he thought that could be the problem. So, new cap, drove a bit, fresh tank of gas...and still have the light.

Re: P1450 Code 98 Windstar
I am not going to comment on whether or not the cap is the problem but once a fault is corrected it will take 2 or 3 OBD11 drive cylcles to automatically clear the CEL light and about 40 drive cylces to purge the code from memory.

Did you fix this problem yet?
Just Wondering if you were able to fix this problem, I have one I'm checking this week, I know the gas cap is fine.
