97gs Vs. 350z (is it possible?)

sup. i have a stock '97 eclipse gs and i want to mod it and my only mission is to rip a stock 350z. i have $6,000 to spend on mods so if there is an expert in here who can list parts for me or atleast tell me what direction to go, it would help. i want to equip it with turbo def. and yes its okay to tell me how to mod it i wont blame you if i get into an accident.
thanx

Read the thread that says "For anyone interested in turboing rs\gs...."
350z's come stock with 279 hp while gs comes stock 140. Don't try racing one now, it will be an embarrassment. I can't even keep up with my brother's 350z.

Did you read the reply to your post? It is just impractical to try and mod a GS eclipse to hang with a 350z. Sell your GS. Buy a GSX or Talon Tsi AWD. Spend $3000 on performance mods. Run low 12's. Smoke 350z.

Becaues it was missed the first time -who knows if he'll see it on the second, so I'll reitterate it for a third.

You'll spend all 6K and you might get close to a stock 350. Sell the GS and buy a GSX and put the leftover $$$ into modding. You'll then have spend the same amount of money and will be able to walk any stock 350Z.

I agree.. For the price of turboing the GS.. you could have a 1g with plenty of mods...

Yea sure, go ahead and line up with Kevin (95_GSXRacer). I sure hope your 350 can pull off 11 second 1/4 miles.

Anyways, I agree with everyone else about trying to turbo your GS. Is it possible? Yes. Is it feasible? No. The amount of money required would be ungodly if you don't REALLY know what you're doing. It would be a lot easier and cheaper to start with a 1g/2g GS-T/GSX and mod it. If you're just absolutely dead set on turboing your GS, it can and has been done before. I just wouldn't recommend it unless you have relatively deep pockets But no matter which path you decide to take, good luck to you bud.

Re: 97gs Vs. 350z (is it possible?)

i beat a 350z from a roll a couple of weeks ago. so watch your ass 03'350z. and i'm on a stock turbo.

as for the Philly, sell what you got and but a turbo model, be it a GST or GSX. you will be more than well on your way with that point, and you will be beating most cars around you as well, not just a 350z

For anyone who said "sell the car and get a gsx." He may not have the money for insurance or this is what his parents want him to get. For whatever reason, he has it.
Now Jake's car can easily walk on a 350z. I drive my brother's 350 as much as I can(so much fun). It will take time and money but you can get the gs to walk on most 350zs.
Also the market for 350s are a lot smaller than eclipses(even though it seems to be the import poster child now). There are about 5 or 6 350s in my area and none of them have any mods yet. If Jake came with the rst, he would have a field day watching them in the rear view. Just my two cents.

Re: 97gs Vs. 350z (is it possible?)

exactly my point... and around here they are a dime a dozen... now if you look at an Infinity G35 Coupe, there is some serious potential...

oh and the said he got 6g to spend on upgrades, so selling the car for at least 4g that is 10k+ and that is more than enough for at least a 2g GST
