98' Bonneville low oil pressure @ idle
wife just came home with it and before I run right out and change the oil pump. The car has 136k runs good, at idle the oil pressure gauge dips down to the red area, hasn't set off the check dash gauges yet.(I am proud of her for seeing the guage on low, hahahahah)
This car has had a few weird problems, so I thought you let me know if this is common and what the problem is. Tony |

change the pump
i bought my bonneville and it was doing a similar thing, the pressure would drop close to red but not quite red.. i never thought anything of it as that the way it was when i got it.. i got the car at around 150k and at 200k the the bearings spun on the crank.. i rebuilt the engine to find out the oil pump had failed/low pressure not enough oil to the crank.., and the oil pump housing had to be replaced also as it was very worn..

Oil pressure low
We just bought an 98 Pontiac bonneville. The oil pressure is a little low at an idle. It is not in the red yet but it has me concerned. It is in the mid nineties when it happened. When the engine is cool it stays higher. Is this normal? Could it be that the oil is too thin and needs changed? We plan on doing that Friday because there was no tag on it stating when it was last changed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
