Monogram 66' Malibu for my Junkyard
Heres the latest addition to "Angelino's Salvage yard"
I pulled this from the pile of old kit's I recieved from my Friend John Piscopo, see: http://modelmasters.proboards3.com/i...num=1081998994 It's the 1978 Release of Monogram's 66' Malibu SS. I am about 80% complete so far. This baby is rusted real bad. The Bumper is rotted through, motor is all siezed and rust welded together and full of dirt and dust. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Monogram 66' Malibu for my Junkyard
Thank you. Actually the Junkers are far more difficult and challenging to do then the clean builds. Much more fun too.

1) Heat up a NON stick frying pan with a small amount of vegtable oil and slowly push the tire into it until the desired results are achieved. 2) Actually flame the tire and then push it on something firm to flatten. Last edited by ONEBADMK8; 06-18-2004 at 06:11 PM. |

Re: Monogram 66' Malibu for my Junkyard
Wow, that looks good, or bad maybe I should say
![]() Is it remains of old flames that I see on the drivers side door ? very cool ! What do you use for colour mix for rust? Flat brown mixed with a little red?

The coolest part is that it actually changes and really rusts!! It's real metal particles so it worsens with time. |

Re: Monogram 66' Malibu for my Junkyard
Heres some pics I forgot to post.
I opened the trunk up with a dremel ad I painted it bright red. I am going to fab up some hinges and display it opened with junk and parts inside. I made the floor of the trunk from 12 mil papaer the painted it flat black then immediately dumped fine dirt/dust to look very weathered. I also asdded some white haze to the intake to attempt to simulate oxidation. I dented up the undercarriage and gas tank. I banged up the mufflers a little more too. I am now 95% done. Check it out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Heres some more. I cut out the trunk and painted it red, borrowed some hinges from a junked 70's release Revell 57 Chevy kit. I flattened the tires a little more and detailed the rust over again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wow those are really interesting and inspiring builds !
It looks superdifficult to get a realistic junk result. So I say Well done! Olivier |
