problems with 2001 se1
I am having a few problems with my grand am. First the dome light stays on when the car is at a stop but then goes off until I stop again. I checked all the doors and found the sensor switches in the back doors to see if one was stuck. They are fine. I cannot find the switches in the front doors to check those. Where are they?. Secondly, my power locks have gone screwy on me. They unlock just fine but you have to hold down the switch for a few seconds before they will lock. Also the car no longer locks the door when you put the car into reverse, nor does it automatically lock when you drive down the road. I went through all the modes of the power locks to see if it somehow was in the 4th lock mode, but it is in #3 where the doors should automatically lock when it is in drive. I tested to passengers lock switch to make sure that it wasn't a faulty switch in the drivers side, but they both act the same. I checked the fuses as well and they are fine. Anyone have any clue what is going on here?

Re: problems with 2001 se1
You could try the relay on the power door locks. I think water got down into mine a fryed it, but the same thing happened. The car would unlock (or maybe it was lock, i dont remember) and it wouldnt do the opposite. I removed the relay, and well i have no power locks right now, but the relay is like 20 bucks, i just havent bothered to order it yet. AS far as the doors and other stuff, im not too sure about that atuff. Oh yea and the relay is located along the drivers side, on the left, under the dash, you may have to pull back your carpet a bit, it is a little black box, if all else fails, just push the lock/unlock switch while your down there, and listen for something making a noise, thats how i found mine. Sorry this is a ramble, but maybe itll help you.
