What do you have in your tank?

I use Texaco's Clean System 3 Plus Unleaded Gas. Does it really matter what type of gas you use?

Sunoco 94.

Generally high octane blends have more detergent additives, which is good. I don't want to clean my EGR system and throttlebody any more than I have to.

Up here in Canada, we have the dirtiest gas short of Mexico, so it does make a big difference. We still have high sulphur levels in our gas, unlike the US.

In Canada, the cleanest gas is Sunoco, followed by PetroCan.

The dirtiest is Esso, followed by Shell.

Depends what kind of car you drive. I use BP Ultimate which is 98 octane. I have been advised that turbo cars need good fuel or they have a tendency to detonate on boost which is bad.

Seeing as I drive a hunk o' junk, I use Regular Unleaded from whatever station has the lowest price.

And yes it does matter, but only if your driving a tuned performance car, especialy turboed. With low RON gas, if you run high boost you will start to ping and eventualy it will ping really bad and snap some internals, valves I think.

Yeah, forgot to add that my car is tuned to run on premium. If the octane isn't sufficient, the car retards timing so it doesn't "ping", and it performs like a Geo

No good, unless you have the misfortune to be driving a Geo...

I use either BP Ultimate or Synergy 8000 from Mobil. My car runs shockingly on anything under 98 octane.

You guy's cars would die here in the states, the highest octane around here is 93. Thats why we dont get Hi-Per. cars here is because you cant tune them as well with the crappy gas we have. DAMN EPA!

Not all petrol stations sell the good stuff over here. If we are going anywhere out of Auckland we take some octane booster with us just in case.

I'm cheap, so I just get Regular Unleaded from the local Shell station, since it's always like 2 cents a litre cheaper than everywhere else

Oh, well, I'll probly be getting a new car this summer, so as long as my car lasts me that long, it's all good. I could care less if it blows up after I sell it

91 octane, because that's the best we can get in California anymore.
