EVAP system help needed!

Sorry this is lengthy, but here goes...

Car is a 97 Z28, 6 speed, 51000 miles, no real engine mods....

I had been getting code p1441 (EVAP System Flow During Non-Purge), so someone recommended I checked for vacuum at idle in Part 7 in this diagram, found that there was, so I replaced the part. Problem seemed to be solved.

Couple days later, another code. This time p0441. I know this is EVAP System No Flow During Purge. Did a search, and found that maybe my lines are clogged/leaking/etc. Pulled the rear wheel and checked all the EVAP lines in the fenderwell going to and from the Charcoal Canister. I blew into them, and there doesnt seem to be any clogs. All the lines look fine, as well as the canister itself.

So after figuring out that everything at least appears to be working properly, I am still getting code P0441 (no flow during purge). So I am thinking there HAS to be a clogged line or part. Since it was only $15, I replaced Part 11 in this diagram.

When I pulled the old one off, I noticed little black pieces falling out of it. Tapping on its side, more black pieces. I am sure these are little pieces from the charcoal canister.

So I replace the part with the new one, reset my SES light, and think I have solved the problem. About 2 days later, same light. Pulled off NEW part 11, tapped, and whadda-ya-know....little black pieces. Note that these pieces did not fall out of the new Part 11 before I used it.....

So now the only thing left to replace is the Charcoal canister, which I did. While I had it off, I blew into the line that runs from the canister to the engine bay, and a friend verified that there was air coming out when I blew. No clog there. Threw everything back together, reset my light. I pulled Part 11 off again and tried to tap out as many of the little black pieces as I could, and reinstalled.

So now I have a new Canister, new Part 7 and Part 11. I also replaced my gas cap with a new one, just in case. Day later, same code, p0441.

There arent any parts in the system left to replace, so the only things I can think of is either...

a) the old Canister permanently clogged my new Part 11, so I am going to pick up another one today (only $15)

b) there is a clog in a line between Part 7 and the Throttle Body, or between the Canister and the Fual tank somehow...

If ANYONE has any ideas, I could really use the help! I am pulling my hair out trying to fix this thing, and I know that if I take it in to the dealer/mechanic, they are just going to want to replace all the parts I already did, and then rape me on the bill......grrrrrrr

Anyway, all help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: EVAP system help needed!

take it to the dealership and have it smoke tested for a leak. unless you happen to have a nitrogen smoke machine at home.

see this is why i dont search for to much on this thread, as you read old stuff you wont notice how old it is and you end up with a question and then the next thing you know the reply box is right there so you type a reply and accidenly bring back and old thread...

this dude didnt want to make a new post if he could find his answer but he ended up bring back an old thread.
