Fuel door mechanism 99 Camry LE 4 cyl

Does the fuel door have some kind of "push out" spring mechanism? I believe it must and my recently adquired 99 is missing it. The remote cable operated plunger retracts, but nothing pops the door open. Will try to look at another vehicle. Sorry for all dumb questions. Trying to get this ready for 2 new drivers (twins). Thanks.

There is a spring that snaps into the hinge. It is very easy to replace and only cost a couple bucks.

My fuel door spring thing broke off as well. Where can I get a replacement - cheaply?

Toyota. Can't be more than a couple of bucks.

You can go to Toyota, or you could always hit the junkyards...

.or you do what I do, just stick your fingernails in the gap and
pull it open, no sweat. Mines been broke for a couple years. Got
to get around to fixing that one of these days! Or not!
