Electrical???

Yeah Im Still Havin The Same Problem. Well I Came To The Conclusion Its Not Vats, Thats Causing My No Start Since My Starter Is Turning Over And The Security Light Goes Off After Like 2 Seconds. I Tore My Dash Apart To Look At The Wiring And Everything Looks Good, But The Only Thing Is That The Computer I Got Was For A Stock 5.7 91 Camaro, But My Car Originally Came With A 305 Tpi, Since I Now Have A 350 Engine I Figured It Was The Same? And Another Thing Is I Have A Hypertech Thermomaster Prom that i got but its for a 89 z28 In It. Im Not Gettin No Spark And My Fuel Pump Aint Comin On. Could This Be Why???and Yea Trust Me All My Fuses Are Good And Everything Is Getting Power. I Looked In The Chiltons Wiring Diagram And The Only Difference Between A 350 And A 305 Wiring In The 91 Is The Coil Is Externally Mounted in the 305. Could It Be My Ecm Or The Prom??

Re: Electrical???

ah HA!!! possible problem, the 89 camaro is a MAF system, your 91 camaro is a speed density system, there could be a problem in the chip if its looking for the wrong sensor inputs. i would get a chip for a 90-92, preferably a 91 camaro and it will probly cure your problem.

Re: Electrical???

Ok yea i could get the prom but darn....i really wanna make sure at least 80 % that thats what it is cause im really short on money since i still got this darn LS1 on my hands. I mean i heard that the car would still run without the Prom in it just would run in Limp home mode??? Do u know for sure that i wouldnt get a spark and no fuel because of the prom?

Re: Electrical???

eh, not positive, but its a good chance because of the two different operating systems, i would put in a call or email to Hypertech, and ask them if you can use the 89 chip in a 91 setup, because i also know that there was another difference, the 89 ECMs RAM was bit 64 bit(?) while in 91 i think they were 128 bit or something like that, computer hardware isnt my strong suit. but i seem to remember something along those lines, and the 92 was 256 bit or something so the chips and/or ECM's were year specific. but yeah i would ask hypertec if that chip is supposed to work in that ECM with the speed density system.

Re: Electrical???

Yeah i just got a email back from Hypertech and they said yeah that would cause a no spark no fuel since the chip does control spark advance and all that sensor stuff. And yes i need a 91 chip. Guess ill make a post tryin to sell this chip...lol
